For this new album, Becky set about writing
about herself, her own experiences and emotions - “This album is all about me, my memories and my childhood,” she
says. Having grown up in the once great North-England market town of
Stockton-on-Tees, Becky and Ryder-Jones, originally from Merseyside,
successfully conjure a sense of the North – a particular place, a particular
attitude. At times recalling Vashti Bunyan or Anne Briggs in its folk
simplicity, together they create a release of aching beauty and sweet,
melancholic nostalgia that firmly establishes itself amongst the esteemed
cannon of quintessentially Northern folk balladry.
